Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 98 - 1270 m
Distribution:  North Pacific: off Kushiro, Japan and from the Sea of Okhotsk to the Bering Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 61-65; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 54-59. Snout projecting; gill opening wholly above pectoral fin; pectoral fin unnotched; disk length 11.7 to 19.6% of head length (Ref. 559). Body dusky-pink; vertical fins black; peritoneum black; stomach pale (Ref. 559).

Country info:  Occurs off the Aleutian Is. (Ref. 28160). Museum: between Petrel Bank and Agattu I., eastern Bering Sea, USNM 74387 (holotype) (Ref. 26282). Southeast of Atka I., Aleutian Is., HUMZ 68121 (male, 306 mm SL). North of Unalaska I., Bering Sea, HUMZ 81826 (female, 291 mm SL) (Ref. 28160). Also Ref. 6876.
