Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  35 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 8 - 8.5; dH range: 10 - 15, non-migratory
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in inshore rocky areas all round the lake, where it feeds on insects (Ref. 267).
