Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 37 - 100 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Mexico to Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 61-69; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 44-50. Pectorals reduced to 1 or 2 rudimentary rays (Ref. 36453).
Biology:  Found on soft bottoms. Minimum depth from Ref. 26912.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 24 August 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Collected between 36.6 and 54.9 m depth during an exploratory fishing expedition in 1967; noted as occurring occasionally at this depth range (Ref. 26912). Also Ref. 5217, 13608.
