Distribution:  Africa: coastal basins in southeastern Sierra Leone (Ref. 91031).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in shallow parts of pools and small streams in the rain forest (Ref. 57261). Prefers clear, flowing water in coastal lowlands (Ref. 84174).

Country info:  Type locality of the holotype of Aphyosemion bertholdi: 'einem Urwaldbach, 10 Meilen nördlich von Kenema (Sierra Leone)' (Ref. 97214). Known from Sewa River (Ref. 57261, 91031) and Moa River (Ref. 57261, 91031). Also Ref. 7372, 84174.
