Distribution:  Western Pacific: Taiwan and Papua New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 7-9
Biology:  Occurs in fast-flowing streams over gravel or rocky bottoms.

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Occurs in mountainous headwaters of the Purari River system. Collection sites include the Asaro River near Goroka, and tributaries of the Wahgi River near Mount Hagen (Ref. 2847). Also Ref. 6771.
