Distribution:  Central America: Atlantic slope of southern Mexico and northern Guatemala.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8
Biology:  A tropical, demersal species confined to freshwater environment unlike other congeners (Ref. 33568). Collected from below surface in channel with sandy-slime bottom (pH 8.0, conductivity 478 µÊS/cm, dissolved solids 242 mg/l, dissolved oxygen 6.9 mg/l, and 26°C) using a 90 cm seine net. Food fish (Ref. 93806).
