Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range - 25 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Indian Ocean: known only from a single male specimen sampled in Pointe aux Canonniers, Mauritius.

Country info:  Type locality of Pseudojuloides xanthomos, Gunner's Quoin, SW side, BPBM 21018 (holotype, 64.4 mm SL) (Ref. 2140). Known only from a single male specimen sampled in Pointe aux Canonniers. Several specimens have been sampled since from the Trou aux Biches region (Ref. 5503). . Misidentified as P. cerasinus, W side of Flic en Flac, BPBM 24778 (Ref. 2140); also in Ref. 5503.
