Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Russia, Korean peninsula, Japan and China.

Biology:  Swims off the bottom of bays.

Country info:  Type locality, Jedo, ZMB 10656 (holotype of Gobius heptacanthus, 4.2 cm SL); Wakanoura, Honshu, CAS 106463 (holotype of Chloea sarchynnis, 3.15 cm SL) (Ref. 81467). Known from Honshu, the waters surrounding the Tsugaru Strait, and western Hokkaido (Ref. 81467); also reported from the Miyagi Prefecture and Niigata Prefecture to Kyushu (Ref. 559).
