Distribution:  Asia: Indonesia and Malaysia.
Diagnosis:  Differs from Channa lucius in possessing a round head (vs. pointed), numerous spots on unpaired fins (vs. bars and stripes), reddish-brown life coloration (vs. brownish black) (Ref. 56386).
Biology:  Inhabits only in blackwater streams (Ref.56749). A common snakehead in peat swamps (Ref. 56749).

Country info:  Known from Sumatra and Borneo (Ref. 7050). Found in the Kapuas Lakes area in Kalimantan Barat, Borneo (Ref. 56749). Recorded from Danau Sentarum National Park in the Kapuas basin, Kalimantan Barat, Borneo (Ref. 56749). Also Ref. 56386.
