Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 6.5; dH range: 10
Distribution:  Asia: Borneo and Sumatra.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in forest streams of the foothills zones, usually in clear, slow to fast flowing waters, preferring quieter areas along the shores; commonly found in shallow waters (less than 5-15 cm) such as puddles in the forest (Ref. 56749). Feeds on worms, crustaceans insects and plant matter (Ref. 7020).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from Natuna Besar Is., Borneo (Ref. 7050). Found in the Kapuas Lakes area in Kalimantan Barat, Borneo (Ref. 56749). Recorded from Danau Sentarum National Park in the Kapuas basin, Kalimantan Barat, Borneo (Ref. 56749). Also Ref. 26580.
