Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India (Ref. 4832) and Bangladesh (Ref. 1479).
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 30-31. The 7th pectoral ray becomes hard and ossified during the breeding season and a few months before (May to July); a characteristic rectangular flattened pad appears just behind the dorsal fin. Males with one or more branched fin ray in both the ventral and caudal fins (Ref. 38333).

Country info:  Known from Kaziranga, Mikir hills, Meghalaya and Manipur (Ref. 45255) and Assam (Ref. 41236). In the Manipur river drainage system: Heingang pat, Heirok stream near Khangabok, Ikop pat, Imphal river at Srkmaijin, Kharrung pat, Litan stream at Litan, Lamphel drain near ICAR complex at Lamphel, Loktak pat (Ref. 38333). Also Ref. 4832.
