Family:  Sisoridae (Sisorid catfishes), subfamily: Sisorinae
Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 7.5; dH range: 20
Distribution:  Asia: India, Nepal, Myanmar and China. Reported from Bangladesh (Ref. 1479).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-6; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 6-7. Dorsal spine serrated along both edges; branched anal fin rays; interdorsal space 98.7 (87.5-106.1) % of adipose dorsal length; caudal peduncle height 40.1 (36.9-43.0) % of its length; equal lobe of caudal fin; maxillary barbels reaching posterior margin of pectoral base (Ref. 42988).
Biology:  Occurs in slow-moving rivers and streams.

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, North Bengal, Assam and Orissa. Common in the Kosi and Bagmati rivers in Bihar (Ref. 4833). Also recorded from the Barak and Jiri rivers, Manipur (Ref. 42988) and Tripura (Ref. 97593). Museum: Jiri river at Jiribam, Manipur, MUMF 2508 (holotype, 6.14 cm SL) (Ref. 42988).
