Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6.5 - 7.19999980926514, non-migratory
Distribution:  Africa: some brooks under forest cover between the Kwango River and the Gamba River, southeast of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 3788, 47461).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Only known from brooks under forest cover (Ref. 3788). Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Type locality of the syntypes of Panchax congicus: 'Congo, Büttner coll.' (Ref. 119324). Known from some brooks under forest cover between the Kwango River and the Gamba River, southeast of Kinshasa (Ref. 3788, 47461). Also Ref. 27139, 31267.
