Family:  Psilorhynchidae (Mountain carps)
Max. size:  9.39 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India, Myanmar and Nepal. Also reported from Tibet (Ref. 32617).
Diagnosis:  Body brown on back, abdomen pale and with 7-10 dark spots along lateral line. Rostral fold well-developed and deep grooves on each side reaching slantly to corners of mouth; ventral surface of mouth with papilla; upper jaw narrow and lower one with sharp edge.
Biology:  Occurs in high-gradient streams with rocky bottom (Ref. 41236). Feeds on algae and invertebrates (Ref. 45563).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from Brahmaputra River in Tibet (Ref. 32617) and Yarlung Zangbo River, Medog County, Xizang Autonomous Region (Ref. 33800). Also Ref. 45563. Status of threat: Endangered (Ref. 45563).
