Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Acrossocheilinae
Max. size:  40.5 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 626.2 g
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish
Distribution:  Asia: China, Viet Nam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
Diagnosis:  Snout pointed; inferior mouth; lower lip with large median lobe reaching corner of mouth. Last simple dorsal ray osseous and serrated behind.

Country info:  Known from the drainages of Dong Jiang and Bei Jiang in Guangdong Province and drainages in Hainan Island and their river mouths (Ref. 33326). Recorded from the Mekong River system in Yunnan (Ref. 38630). Known from Puyuangjiang of Yunnan Province; Rongxian, Yangsu, Rongran of Guangxi Province; and Wujiang, Jinpin, Jianghe of Guizhou Province; Hunan Province's Yuangjiang; Qingjiang of Hubei Province. And also found in Dongjiang River and Beijiang River(Ref.45620). Also Ref. 26561, 35840.
