Distribution:  Asia: southern China.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Color of body yellowish brown, bluish on back and white on belly; median axis of body with reddish yellow narrow zone, blue-black lines above the zone and shining blue-green lines under it; base of caudal fin with a large blue spot and the spot with a golden edge; fins pale white (Ref. 45563).

Country info:  First recorded in Hongkong. Its distribution is limited to areas of Guangdong Province (Ref. 45563). Adversely affected by the introduction of Gambusia affinis through competition or predation (Ref. 44142). Status of threat: Extinct in the wild (Ref. 45563).
