Max. size:  69 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 3493 - 4974 m
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: Tasman Sea and off southeastern New Zealand.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 347; Anal soft rays: 214-251; Vertebrae: 162-163. Upper limit of dorsal fin rays is 408; dorsal fin rays before anus 136-166; precaudal vertebrae 86-88 (Ref. 31334). Pectorals small.
Biology: 
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 25 November 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Recorded from the Tasman Sea (Ref. 31334). Reported from off Eucla, Western Australia (Ref. 7300) but this lies outside the distributional range, occurrence needs verification.
