Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 119 - 272 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: northwestern Australia. Pacific Ocean: Japan, Taiwan and Hawaii.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 10-10; Vertebrae: 25-25. With five predorsal scales; two cheek scale rows behind eye, three below eye. A low scaly sheath at bases of dorsal and anal fins. Scales large.
Biology:  Occurs in deep shelf waters (Ref. 530).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Reported from Oahu, and has been observed along the edges of sand patches near irregular, hard surfaces, and foraging by picking at objects on rocks and sand at depths of 119-272 m (Ref. 530, 7460). Also Ref. 58302.
