Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Lampanyctinae
Max. size:  8.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 100 - 1000 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Indian and Southeast Atlantic: 8°N-15°S; also in the Agulhas Current south to about 40°S. Pacific Ocean: 30°N-30°S. South China Sea (Ref.74511).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-15; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 16-18; Vertebrae: 33-35
Biology:  High-oceanic and mesopelagic species; found in the upper 24 m at night (Ref. 4066) and 532-1000 m during day (Ref. 58302). Oviparous, with planktonic eggs and larvae (Ref. 31442).
