Family:  Osphronemidae (Gouramies), subfamily: Macropodusinae
Max. size:  5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 7; dH range: 12
Distribution:  Asia: Mekong basin.
Diagnosis:  Lanceolate caudal fin; elongated posterior anal-fin rays not reaching beyond the middle of the caudal fin; usually 1-2 dark longitudinal stripes distinct in preserved specimens; no stripe along the base of the anal fin (Ref. 27732). In life, dorsal, caudal and anal fin with red margin and numerous small blue spots (Ref. 43281).
Biology:  Occurs in marshes, swamps and rice fields (Ref. 27732).
