Distribution:  South America: Maroni and Approuague River basins.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Lives in groups, in calm, shallow waters with humus-laden substrate (Ref. 12225). Prefers lentic waters and sandy-rocky bottoms of creeks and counter-current zones of principal rivers (Ref. 27188). Maximum length report to reach 5 cm SL (Ref. 12225).
