Family:  Tetraodontidae (Puffers), subfamily: Tetraodontinae
Max. size:  35 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: southern Hokkaido, Japan to the East China and Yellow seas.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-18; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 13-16. Body covered with prickles. Many small dark blue spots dorsally. Pectoral and anal fins yellow; dorsal and caudal fins blackish-blue (Ref. 33390).
