Family:  Synodontidae (Lizardfishes), subfamily: Synodontinae
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 35 - 200 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea to India and Andaman Sea, eastward to southern Japan and Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Ranges from coastal sand flats to deep off-shore (Ref. 48635). Prefers deeper waters (Ref. 30573). Sold fresh or dried salted in markets (Ref. 3520). Minimum depth reported from Ref. 30573.
