Max. size:  5 cm SL (male/unsexed); 5.34 cm SL (female)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater, amphidromous
Distribution:  Oceania: Rapa Island in French Polynesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 10-10. Distinguished by the following characters: predorsal midline with 10-14 cycloid scales; belly with cycloid scales close to anus; lateral scales 31-36 reaching upper pectoral base; transverse series back 8-9; transverse series forward 9-12; upper jaw with 33-38 tricuspid teeth; modally 35-36; head and body ventrally dusky in males, mostly immaculate in females; pelvic disk dusky in males with dusky blotches medially; females pelvic disk generally without pigmentation (Ref. 46975).
Biology:  Collected in a clear, relatively swift rainforest stream, close to the coast. Sexual dimorphism well developed: sexual dichromatic color patterns well developed in both sexes; males with longer unpaired fins (Ref. 46975).
