Distribution:  South America: Orinoco River basin, mostly in the channel of main rivers.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal soft rays: 165-178. Slightly superior mouth; 165-178 anal rays; dorsal profile slightly convex to almost straight; body depth 12-15% in length to end of anal fin (LEA) and 14-17% of anal fin base; eye diameter and interocular distance 6-8% and 13-17% in head length, respectively; anal fin origin below base of pectorals or slightly forward, but not beyond gill opening; head depth at nape, 62-71% in head length.
