Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 945 - 4777 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: New England, USA to the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and the Lesser Antilles.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 3-3. Snout not protruding beyond premaxillary symphysis (Ref. 37108).
Biology:  Adults probably abyssal benthic (Ref. 51654).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 09 October 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
