Max. size:  10.36 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: known only from northern and western Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan Barat).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 4-4; Anal soft rays: 44-55; Vertebrae: 48-52. Mature males with bifurcated serrae on the pectoral spine; zero or one gill raker on first branchial arch; and depth of caudal peduncle 6.3-9.5% SL.
Biology:  Occurs in both acid water forest streams and blackwater habitats in peat swamps (Ref. 32835). Also found in blackwater streams in lowland and upland areas (Ref. 56749).
