Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  5 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 2 years
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 5 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea, including the Suez Canal.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 11-12
Biology:  Inshore shallows, on sand. Feed on harpacticoid copepods and nematodes; also oligochaetes, gastropods and other meiobenthos. Life span probably does not go beyond 2 years (Ref. 44579). Minimum depth reported taken from Ref. 127989.
