Distribution:  South America: São Francisco River basin in Brazil.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occur in ponds. Oviparous with distinct pairing (Ref. 205). Presence of rays with hooks in the anal fin which can serve as contact organs during copulation according to other authors (Ref. 54306).
