Family:  Synodontidae (Lizardfishes), subfamily: Harpadontinae
Max. size:  50 cm SL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 7 years
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 20 - 100 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan to the northern South China Sea.
Diagnosis:  A pale species with few dark markings and saddle-like spots below dorsal fin bases (Ref. 48635).
Biology:  Inhabits sandy bottoms in shallow water. Utilized for human consumption.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 16 August 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
