Family:  Holocentridae (Squirrelfishes, soldierfishes), subfamily: Holocentrinae
Max. size:  27.9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 200 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Portugal to Morocco and from Mauritania to Angola.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in reefs and rocky areas from the shoreline to 200 m depth (Ref. 2683). Minimum depth reported from Ref. 27000. Nocturnal (Ref. 6537). Feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates (Ref. 6746).
