Family:  Congridae (Conger and garden eels), subfamily: Congrinae
Max. size:  57 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 300 - 500 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aqaba. Also found in the Mediterranean coast of Israel. Probably occurring in the Gulf of Suez but no specimens are available.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Swims close to the bottom in zigzag movements. Caught by traps and trammel nets (Ref. 7446).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 15 August 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
