Max. size:  9.5 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 14.0 g
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 8 - 9; dH range: 9 - 19, amphidromous
Distribution:  South Asia: India and Sri Lanka.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in lagoons and small streams. Enters estuaries (Ref. 4833). Often found among marginal roots and weeds in lagoons and some dry zone tanks (now relatively rare in the latter habitat). Feeds on fish fry, zooplankton and algae.
