Family:  Triglidae (Searobins), subfamily: Prionotinae
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine; depth range 9 - 183 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: North Carolina and northern Gulf of Mexico in USA to Brazil. Puerto Rico, Yucatan, Venezuela (Ref. 26938).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 10-11
Biology:  Found from bays and estuaries to the mid-shelf.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 21 August 2012 Ref. (130435)
