Family:  Sternoptychidae (Marine hatchetfishes), subfamily: Sternoptychinae
Max. size:  8.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: restricted to the Tasman Sea off the east coast of Australia and continental slope areas of New Zealand.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  A benthic species (Ref. 75154) which occurs on the continental shelf and slope (Ref. 7300, 75154).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 16 July 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
