Diagnosis: snout length 35.4 % head length; lower jaw length 34.5 % head length; outer oral dentition unicuspid; lachrymal depth 20.3 % head length; cheek depth 25.2 % head length; predorsal distance 36.1 %SL; body depth 34.6 %SL; caudal peduncle length 17.8 %SL (Ref. 55898). Description: large and heavily-built species; dorsal and ventral body profiles convex; head massive; dorsal head profile above eye convex, concave between eyes; premaxillary pedicel prominent; mouth moderately large; gape inclined at about 20° to horizontal; maxilla extending to vertical at anterior margin of eye; outer and inner oral teeth unicuspid; 3 series of scales on cheek; upper margin of eye not touching dorsal head profile; lower pharyngeal normal, with small slender teeth (Ref. 55898). Coloration: Preserved: Females and immature males: body silvery yellow; 6-7 vertical bars, only faintly visible directly below dorsal fin; all fins pale; anal fin with greyish leading edge (Ref. 55898).
