Family:  Doradidae (Thorny catfishes), subfamily: Astrodoradinae
Max. size:  3.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Amazon and Essequibo River basins.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Usually inhabits places with accumulated organic debris, like dense meshes of roots of floating macrophytes which are abundant in rivers with turbid water (Ref. 56903).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 05 August 2020 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
