Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.5 - 8.5; dH range: 10,
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to Lake Tanganyika, restricted to the southwestern part of the lake (Ref. 46829, 52921).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Lives in the shallow, rocky habitat; extremely shy; usually found in groups; feeds on algae and has long digestive tract (Ref. 46829). Feeds by scraping rock biocover (Ref. 6770, 46829). Females brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 46829, 86760).
