Family:  Serranidae (Sea basses: groupers and fairy basslets)
Max. size:  5.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 30 - 60 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos Islands, Curacao.
Diagnosis:  Pale, with 2 longitudinal black stripes that end as separate spots on caudal peduncle; dorsal fin deeply notched, spiny part with broad white margin; prominent black spot and smaller less distinct spot.
Biology:  Found on steep slopes or vertical faces on edges of island shelves (Ref. 35505).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 23 August 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
