Family:  Sciaenidae (Drums or croakers)
Max. size:  35 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; brackish; marine; depth range 11 - 60 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Mexico to Peru.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults are found along sandy coasts, bays and estuaries. Feed mainly on worms and other marine invertebrates (Ref. 9118). Common in local markets (Ref. 9118).

Threat to humans:  harmless
