Family:  Congridae (Conger and garden eels), subfamily: Bathymyrinae
Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 30 - 100 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Madeira and Azores.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs on the shelf on sandy areas of rocky sublittoral zone. Burrows in the sediment during the day and swims actively at night in search of prey (Ref. 6521).
IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient (DD); Date assessed: 21 January 2015 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
