Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-6; Anal soft rays: 4-4. Escal morphology: anterior appendage branched, unpigmented internally; medial and anterolateral appendages absent; posterior appendage branched (Ref. 26783). Further characterized by having long, narrow and tapering upper end of subopercle, posterodorsal margin of left subopercle deeply indented; length of ventral fork of opercle 25.3% SL; ratio of lengths of the dorsal and ventral forks of opercle 0.48; absence of epibranchial teeth; presence of teeth on pharyngobranchial II; upper jaw teeth 42, lower jaw teeth 40; teeth on vomer 6; dorsal fin rays 6; anal fin rays 4; pectoral fin rays 14; head length 37.2% SL; head depth 28.4% SL; premaxilla length 26.3% SL; length of lower jaw 41.2% SL; length of illicium 28.4% SL (Ref. 86949).
