Distribution:  South America: middle portions of the Rio Tocantins in Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal soft rays: 28-31; Vertebrae: 32-34. Upper caudal-fin lobe with a dark spot; and above the fifth to ninth perforated scales of the lateral line with a large and irregularly shaped humeral spot (Ref. 58760).
