Family:  Soleidae (Soles)
Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 3 - 20 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Laccadives, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, China, Taiwan and Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 59-62; Anal soft rays: 42-47; Vertebrae: 33-34. Description: Characterized by pale brown color with black dots, small irregular, brown spots and large vague ocelli; caudal rays free from dorsal and anal fins; pectoral fins absent; lateral line of eyed side with 55-65 scales; second lateral line on blind side on dorsal edge of head; cycloid scales; tubular anterior nostril reaching anterior edge of lower eye when laid back; series of short barbels along lower edge of blind side of head; depth of body 2.4-2.5 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Inhabits coastal sand slopes and estuaries (Ref. 48637).
