Max. size:  28.8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Amazon River basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-6; Anal soft rays: 16-18. Body extremely elongate, predorsal distance 26-28% of SL; and dorsal spine thin, weakly ossified and prolonged well beyond tip of first ray as long flexible filament (Ref. 56896).
Biology:  Appears restricted to the deep, rather swift channels of very large whitewater rivers (Ref. 56896).
