Family:  Platytroctidae (Tubeshoulders)
Max. size:  20 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 100 - 1000 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Denmark Strait (Ref. 6682), southern Iceland and Bay of Biscay to South Africa.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Bathypelagic to benthopelagic in the northern parts of range, occurring from 300-1,000 m in the daytime, but as shallow as 100-120 m at night (Ref. 4461).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 15 July 2014 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
