Family:  Dasyatidae (Stingrays), subfamily: Urogymninae
Max. size:  100 cm WD (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Gangetic river system. Possibly in the Bay of Bengal and the Fly river system in New Guinea. Status is uncertain, close to Himantura chaophraya. Validity of this species questioned in Compagno's 1999 checklist (Ref. 35766).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rivers. Also found in shallow bays and estuaries in the Bay of Bengal. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 50449).
