Family:  Tripterygiidae (Triplefin blennies), subfamily: Tripterygiinae
Max. size:  4.3 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 30 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: southern Japan to the Philippines, Australia, and the Solomon Islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 16-18; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 19-21; Vertebrae: 35-38. Identified by trunk having several longitudinal stripes (Ref. 48636, 94457).
Biology:  Adults inhabit clear coastal reefs with moderate currents (Ref. 9710, 48636). Usually in small groups on sponges or reef outcrops. They feed on zooplankton (Ref. 48636). Eggs are hemispherical and covered with numerous sticky threads that anchor them in the algae on the nesting sites (Ref. 240). Larvae are planktonic which occur primarily in shallow, nearshore waters (Ref. 94114). Minimum depth of 0 m reported from Ref. 13227.
