Family:  Tripterygiidae (Triplefin blennies), subfamily: Tripterygiinae
Max. size:  3.16 cm SL (male/unsexed); 2.62 cm SL (female)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range - 3 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Timor-Leste.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 17-18; Anal spines: 1-1. This species belonging to the Helcogramma steinitzi species complex is distinguished by the following characters: first dorsal fin beginning above preopercle, D1 III, D2 XIV-XV, D3 9-11; one symphyseal mandibular pore (total pores 9-11); tubular pored lateral line scales 19-23; head profile about 70ยบ to horizontal; nape scaleless; males with a red anal fin, no melanophores, black pelvic fins; females with 6 oblique bars (Ref. 114924).
