Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  14.8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range - 17 m
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Victoria.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in sheltered sublittoral and littoral zones with a hard substrate. Few specimens caught over mud (Ref. 4983). Feeds mainly on the larvae of the mayfly Povilla adusta; also on Trichoptera and Diptera larvae (Ref. 558).
